With the winter season well underway (and Thanksgiving as well as the festive season around the corner), there’s no better time to start using your KUDU Grill to test out some of our delicious ‘potjie’ recipes. Along with the help of your KUDU Dutch Oven, you can recreate all our favorite hearty meals for a full belly and heart.

For us, there’s nothing better than gathering around the fire with family and friends on a winter’s day, knowing you’re about to feast on a plate of something warm and delicious.

Taste of the Ocean: Classic French Bouillabaisse

 

A delicious blend of all the ocean has to offer, as well as black peppercorns, herbs, and dry white wine, this recipe is sure to have your guests’ mouths watering as soon as they catch a whiff. 

Bouillabaisse is a traditional fish stew which originates from the port city of Marseille, France. It used to be made using the bony rockfish that restaurants and markets did not want. The dish usually starts off with creating the perfect broth (of which white wine is an essential ingredient, so pop that cork and enjoy a glass while you cook), as well as three different types of fish.

With the use of fresh and fragrant ingredients such as oranges, bay leaves and thyme – you can enhance those delicious saltwater flavors. 2. Fresh Take on Your Grandma’s Famous Recipe: KUDU Chili

Our KUDU Chili is one of our more traditional potjie recipes, not straying too far from the delicious and spicy tomato taste that everyone wants from Chili.  However, we level it up by throwing in a bit of bacon, pork, beef and some chili beans to give it that extra bite. 

 
3. Coffee-Basted Pork and Butternut Squash

 

A rich winter dish, coffee-basted and steamed to perfection, this one is definitely a crowd-pleaser. 

Testing different potjie recipes is the perfect time to get experimental with your flavors. The best thing about slow cooking is that you can add almost any kind of ingredient you want, and it’ll blend beautifully into your dish.
